About The Co-op

Seafood Producers Cooperative (SPC) is owned by fishermen who fish the waters of Southeast Alaska. Each member is a small boat fisherman and owner of the cooperative, and therefore receives the benefits of ownership. The cooperative was founded on pride in ownership and is meant to serve fishermen by getting the fairest price for their catch and giving them access to processing and packaging that they wouldn’t be able to achieve working on their own. When you get fish from a fishermen’s co-op, you get the fish from a fisherman. With the co-op, you can depend on consistent product availability with the highest standards. What started in 1944 as a cooperative to provide halibut liver oil to vitamin companies has become a full-fledged organization that provides premium-quality wild salmon, halibut, sablefish (black cod), and more to high-end food service and retail industries around the world. The co-op’s main processing plant is in Sitka, Alaska.

SPC’s Mission: We represent small boats, independent fishermen, and co-op values. With great pride in our company, our communities, and every fish we touch, we are committed to producing the finest quality seafood.

We are thrilled to partner with SPC to bring this delicious, hook-and-line caught King Salmon to our customers.

About King Salmon

Chinook (King) Salmon is one of the most sought after species of salmon in the Pacific Northwest. It’s known for its rich and buttery taste, but firm texture, making it the ideal entre candidate for hosting. The story behind the remarkable king is similar to other salmon species - it begins in freshwater such as streams, goes out to the ocean during the major growth of its life, but returns back to the same freshwater it was born in. King salmon are also known for being the largest of salmon species.

What You can Expect from SeaBear

Your Fresh King salmon will be hand-filleted, and will be shipped fresh, never frozen. It should arrive to you cool to the touch, on gel ice packs. We provide free sea salt & cracked pepper with every order of this phenomenal salmon, along with cooking instructions, storage guidelines, and tips to make this a memorable meal. You will also receive information about the niche fishery that provided your fish.

*Please note, due to these fish being so fresh and tender, removing all bones is not possible, so fillets will likely contain bones.

Any additional items ordered with this event will ship on the same day as the event.

No matter how you prefer to cook your Fresh & Wild fillet, taking your time is key. Slow cooking helps seal in those natural juices for a more flavorful dish. Look for the flesh to go from translucent to mostly opaque and flake easily with a fork to know it's done.

For baking, preheat your oven to 275°F. Lay your fillet on a cookie sheet brushed with olive oil, skin side down, and bake for around 15-18 minutes without flipping.

If you're grilling, brush your grill with olive oil before heating. Once it's medium-hot (hold your hand 6 inches above the grill for 5 seconds), brush the top of each fillet with olive oil and place them on the grill. Season with salt and pepper, grill until the edges start turning opaque, flip once, and continue until fully cooked.

Fresh fish is a wonderful addition to your meals, offering both flavor and nutrition. To preserve its quality and safety, follow these tips for storing fresh fish:

  1. Keep it cold: When your Fresh & Wild catch arrives, promptly rinse the fillets in cold water, pat dry and refrigerate. For best results, place it on a bed of ice or use ice packs to maintain a cold temperature.
  2. Wrap it up: Use plastic wrap and a freezer bag to tightly wrap the fish if looking to freeze. This helps in keeping the fish fresh.
  3. Plan your meal: Fresh fish is most enjoyable within 1 to 3 days after delivery. If you don't plan to use it within this timeframe and are considering freezing, the fillet(s) will keep in the freezer for approximately 30 days. Upon thawing, your fillet(s) should be enjoyed within 1-2 days.

How is the freshness of the fish guaranteed during delivery?
