Leftover crab???
Yes, we realize crab (particularly the Alaska King Crab and Dungeness Crab we feature) is SO delicious there often might not be any leftovers. But -- we recommend always setting aside at least a little bit of that sweet, succulent, satisfying crab meat to enjoy the next day. Here are 6 of our very favorite ways to enjoy leftover crab.
FAVORITE BREAKFAST IDEAS
OK, there are actually two tied here. First, a very simple breakfast idea is to elevate your avocado toast to Crab Meat Avocado Toast:
Serve as shown, or top with an egg done over easy. Either way, it is a breakfast to remember.
Our other favorite way to enjoy leftover crab at breakfast takes a little more work, but only a little. Use a mini-muffin pan and make little Crab Egg Bites -- in ours below, we've included egg / peppers / spinach / mozzarella cheese / King crab meat, and baked at 375 degrees.
FAVORITE APPETIZER IDEA - CRAB PUB BITES
Crab meat is used in many appetizers. We particularly love this simple approach that combines the casual and the elegant. On small crostini (or your favorite cracker, if you prefer), spread some pub cheese and top with shredded crab meat. If you'd like to serve warm, heat the crostini and pub cheese for a few minutes in the oven, and then top with crab right before serving.
FAVORITE SIDE DISH - CRAB MASHED POTATOES
Make your favorite mashed potato recipe (we highly recommend garlic mashed potatoes), and simply top with crab meat right before serving. Then, as you eat you mix the crab meat into the warm mashed potatoes.
FAVORITE SANDWICH - CRAB TACOS
So simple -- use soft or hard taco shells, whichever you prefer (we're big fans of flour mini-tortillas), fill with your favorite taco ingredients, and top off with shredded pieces of your leftover crab.
FAVORITE DINNER - CRAB FETTUCCINI ALFREDO
King Crab meat and Dungeness Crab meat both marry spectacularly with a rich, creamy fettuccini alfredo.
